What to do in the case of a dental emergency
If you are in need of emergency assistance, it is best to not try to handle it on your own.
Please read the following for best practices when it comes to certain types of dental emergencies.
Toothaches causing pain and discomfort
If you are experiencing pain or discomfort in one or more teeth, you may need to see a dentist right away. Our dentists will assess your situation to determine the cause of the toothache, which can range from decay or infection.
Chipped, cracked or broken teeth
If you have a chipped, cracked or broken tooth, rest assured that we are just a phone call away. If a tooth has fallen out, preserve the tooth by placing it in milk. Bring your tooth with you on your visit to Centrepointe Dental and we will help you restore it.
Lost or damaged crown, partial crown or filling
Crowns that have fallen off can still be reattached. You can attempt to save the lost crown by cleaning it and holding it in place with the use of toothpaste as a temporary adhesive. Once you have arrived at Centrepointe Dental, our team will work on properly reattaching the crown. If this is not possible, a new crown can be created for you.
In the event of a lost filling, worry not – we will gladly create a new filling for you using new material.
When is it time to go to the hospital?
If you experience any of the following, it is best to visit a hospital for medical attention:
- Extreme trauma or force to the jaw that has caused immense pain or the inability to talk or chew, you may have a broken jaw.
- Severe loss of blood from your mouth, lips or tongue.
