What are dental crowns?
When a simple filling won’t do, dental crowns are the answer. A dental crown has the ability to repair a tooth that has suffered significant damage or decay. With a healthy root, we are able to fully restore your smile by applying a dental crown.
Essentially, crowns act as durable, strong caps to the damaged tooth above the gum line, and are applied to the top of the remaining part of a damaged or decayed tooth. Not only does a dental crown restore the tooth’s look and overall aesthetic, but it also restores the tooth’s strength and resilience against further damage in the future.
Additionally, a partial crown is where the ceramic cap is shaped and moulded to fit snugly with the tooth’s surface.

Using computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), we replicate the patient’s dental impression in the highest level of detail so that we can create a perfectly fitted porcelain crown.
CEREC: partial crowns: inlays and onlays
CEREC technology also allows us to create partial crowns (also known as inlays and onlays), in those instances where the damage of a tooth is too great for a simple filling yet not great enough where a full dental crown is needed.
