Simply put, dental implants are the best way to replace missing teeth because they are the closest thing we have to natural teeth in terms of aesthetics and durability! Using today’s highest level of technology, we design implants that offer you significant advantages over other treatment options. They are vastly superior to alternatives like bridges and dentures when it comes to quality, comfort and longevity. Our patients regularly comment on how this solution has led to greater self-confidence and better quality of life.
How does it work?
Completing a full implant restoration for a patient consists of a few steps. Before the crowns or artificial teeth are created, the patient needs a root to support their new teeth. The first step in the process is the placement of a small titanium post into the missing space within the arch. The patient’s own bone will grow and fuse to the implant which creates the desired durability and stability. Sometimes when a patient has gone without a tooth for an extended period of time, the bone and gums in that space will shrink. In this case, we need to first perform a bone grafting procedure to grow new artificial bone in order to support the titanium root. This has become a very routine and non-invasive procedure.
The healing process is very quick but the implant integration into the bone takes about three to six months. Once it is determined that the implant is completely secure in the bone, we then proceed with taking a master impression of the implant. The impression is then sent to the laboratory for fabrication of a custom-made crown.
At the third appointment, we perform the final fixation of the crown onto the implant. This completes the final phase of the restorative period. Luckily, all of these are short appointments.
After the implant is placed, all subsequent appointments do not require administration of anaesthesia. Implant therapy has thus become an exceptionally reliable treatment for replacing missing teeth, allowing patients to regain 100% functionality.
