Creating a welcoming environment

As a child, Karen loved going to the dentist. So it’s no surprise that she chose to pursue a career in the dental field as a dental office assistant. Her favourite part of the job is building relationships. Making patients feel welcome by sharing stories and a few laughs is very fulfilling for Karen.

She also loves being part of Centrepointe’s friendly and supportive team. Everyone is willing to help out whenever and wherever it’s needed.

Making patients feel heard

When it comes to helping nervous patients, Karen knows that a little bit of empathy can go a long way. She makes a special effort to listen to patients’ concerns so that they feel valued and understood.

Her top tip for taking care of your teeth is consistency. Develop good oral hygiene habits and stick with them!

Education and training

Karen received her Dental Office Administration Diploma from George Brown College in 2003.

Passions outside of work

When she’s not working, Karen loves being in nature. From gardening, to hiking, to bike riding—she’s an aficionado of all things outdoors. She especially enjoys going on adventures with her teenage kids—that is, if she can convince them to hang out with their mom. Pilates and a good book are her other favourite pastimes
